SAFETY – EVERYONE GOES HOME

Safety is the most important value at Powertek Oil and Gas Limited. Our core mantra, goal, and everyday commitment is to ensure that "Everyone goes home the same way they came to work." We are steadfast in providing our employees with the tools, training, and resources they need to achieve this vital objective.
Our specialised construction services require our employees to operate in challenging and critical environments, often with heavy machinery, in one of the most regulated and scrutinised industries. Daily, they face risks from large moving equipment, hazardous gases and chemicals, inclement weather, difficult terrain, pressurised systems, and the presence of dangerous wildlife, not to mention physical exertion and the risk of mechanical failure. These elements make our work inherently risky, but we take every step possible to mitigate those risks and safeguard our workforce.
At Powertek Oil and Gas Limited, we approach these risks with a comprehensive safety strategy built around continuous training and vigilance. We ensure our team is equipped to handle these dangers through a number of safety protocols:

  • Jobsite Safety Assessments (JSAs): Every day, our crews participate in a Jobsite Safety Assessment (JSA), where the jobsite foreman, operator inspectors, third-party specialists, and general trade employees meet to discuss the specific risks associated with the day's work. This is a crucial part of our commitment to ensuring safety at every stage of the project.
  • Company-Wide Safety Meetings: Our monthly, company-wide safety meetings are a vital extension of the daily JSAs. These meetings bring our entire team together to review important safety training topics, allowing us to reinforce safety standards, share best practices, and address any concerns that may arise.
  • Pusher Program: We also have the “Pusher Program” in place. Our "Pushers" are the most experienced members of our team, with deep expertise in all aspects of oil and gas construction. They act as mentors to less experienced workers and serve as key figures in our safety culture. Each month, these Pushers meet with our safety manager to discuss the risks they observe in the field and provide feedback on the safety measures that need to be prioritised.
  • Task-Oriented Training: We are committed to investing in the growth and development of our employees. Through both classroom-based orientation and task-specific field training, we ensure that every member of our team is equipped with the knowledge and skills required to perform their job safely and effectively. Continuous learning is a key part of maintaining high safety standards and improving employee expertise.
  • DOT Task-Specific Training: Some of our work requires operator qualifications (OQ) for Department of Transport (DOT) projects. To ensure compliance and safety, we have Veriforce Evaluators on staff who are capable of independently qualifying our employees on a range of DOT-covered tasks.
  • Industry Safety Partnerships: Powertek Oil and Gas Limited actively participates in a variety of industry safety analysis organisations, including ISNet World, PEC Premier, RigUp, Browze, and Veriforce. These partnerships allow us to stay up to date with the latest safety protocols and contribute to broader industry efforts to promote safe working environments.

At Powertek Oil and Gas Limited, we believe that a strong safety culture not only ensures the well-being of our team but also enhances the quality of our work. Our unwavering commitment to safety, training, and continuous improvement ensures that every project is completed without compromise to the safety of our employees, the environment, or the communities we serve.
